Breastfeeding for Birth Professionals
This course is a three-hour course that is a required step for doula certification with DONA International.
Here are the topics that are covered:
- Breastfeeding Basics and Barriers
- Anatomy and Physiology
- The Breastfeeding Couple
- Breastfeeding the First Few Days
- Breastfeeding in the Early Weeks
- Breastfeeding Challenges
In each of these topics, you will also see how a doula can play a vital role in helping a family initiate and continue breastfeeding. There is also a discussion of the role of referrals and the scope of a doula in breastfeeding.
Each student will receive a workshop, access to a wealth of resources, and a certificate of completion. This course is taught by a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC).
